Fast & Fancy: Brownie Trifle Dessert

This is one of my new favorite desserts, and for so many reasons!  First off, it is a snap to put together, and second, everyone in the family loved it!  Which is a hard feat, let me tell you.  And honestly, this is one of those desserts that doesn’t need to be made with “gourmet” ingredients for it to turn out spectacular.  I mean sure, you could bake up a batch of your favorite “I only use real chocolate and non cocoa powder” brownies, along with fresh whipped cream and “gourmet” candy bits, but why??  This dessert is awesome in taste and in it’s simplicity. All you need are 4 ingredients, then just layer it in a pretty glass bowl or make them individual sized by using wine glasses!

Oh, and this can be made a head of time and put in the fridge for a couple days, or you can make it right before they are needed, tastes great either way!  And I have to say, the cruchy toffee bits REALLY made this great.  So what do you need?

  • a batch of brownies
  • chocolate pudding (I use instant)
  • cool whip
  • chopped toffee bars (like skor or heath)

Now just layer it in the order of the ingredient list, that’s it!  And wouldn’t this be great with peanut butter cups for those that don’t like toffee…mmm!  I just love the idea of trifles, just something about seeing all of those pretty layers makes the dessert taste just that much better 😉  And be creative, have fun with it!  You could use cookies, cake, different flavors of pudding, fruits, fruit syrups, all sorts of chopped candy bars, etc…
