Welcome to Choosing Simplicity, my little corner of the vast internet to share my thoughts, ideas and recipes!
Q: Who are you?
A: I am a stay at home/work from home mom, happily married with 3 bright & creative kids (sometimes too creative), 2 cats and 2 dogs. I run 2 Etsy shops, Kawaii Goodies and Bliss Candies. I love the Lord, cooking and baking, gardening, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, traveling, and animals! My dream was to open up a bakery/sweets shop, and I’m working hard to make that come true
Q: Why choose a “simple” life, isn’t that kinda boring?
A: Simplicity is defined as “the absence of complication,” which is NOT the same thing as boring or mundane by any means! I think we often get caught in the whirlwind of trying to keep up with “the Jones”, thinking that will improve our lives, when really what we need to do is to put our faith in God. I think it is so important to find the time to implement positive, lasting, and life-changing habits. There is just something so deeply satisfying in knowing you are making a change that will affect you and your family in a positive way not just for now, but for the rest of your lives.
This is the essence of choosing simplicity; to view life from a thankful, uncluttered perspective and to take pro-active steps towards living a fulfilling, exciting (this is different then nerve-wracking), uncomplicated life.
Q: What are you hoping readers will get out of this blog?
A: Well, as a stay-at-home mom, business owner and wife I spend a lot of time finding ways to:
- save money or stretch our dollar
- implement more earth-friendly “green” options into our everyday living
- make simple and delicious recipes that are quick, cost effective, and healthy (sometimes, ha!)
- implement simple and productive solutions to everyday problems
- bless people often with little tokens love and kindness
- balance working from home with family life
Though this blog is written from the perspective of a mom and wife, I think that anyone of any age will find many of the ideas here helpful and useful. I hope that I can provide a little inspiration and hope to those who feel defeated by the “rate race”, be a testimony to the lasting joy that simplicity brings, and perhaps a little humor along the way.
I love the way you write. You have such a loving heart for others. I am so glad you are a part of my family. You are very talented and have great ideas. Thank you for sharing your gifts.
